ABOUT US:
Brainchild of maestro bassist Tim Moure (also known as Timur Murtuzaev), Durov’s Corner is a project that spotlights Tim on bass and showcases his vision as a conceptual producer, riff creator, melody-maker, and first-class music artist.
Virtuoso clarinetist, saxophonist, “dudukist”, arranger, composer, and all-around musical genius, Leo Chelyapov goes way back with Tim to the 80’s when they were both bandmates in top Russian bands such as Bravo and Brigada S. Leo is responsible for masterful performances on reed instruments as well as top-notch orchestration and arrangements of symphonic textures in the band’s works.
The trio is completed with producer, composer, songwriter, Pro Tools master, synthesist, programmer, sound designer, engineer, writer, and teacher, Mark V Sheldon (markvsheldon.com) who has been “specializing in melody” since he was five. He also handles the band’s website and copy. He has been friends with Tim and Leo since 1992 when the three first began collaborating together.
OUR BEGINNINGS:
One day in March of 2017, Leo contacted Mark V to see if he would be interested in collaborating with Tim and Leo on some new ideas. This led to a get-together at The Synatarium, Mark V’s studio, and a casual jam session ensued. When Tim suddenly started to play one particular riff on his bass, Mark V took note and suggested a slight modification as he got it into Pro Tools. Ignition of ideas quickly took place, inspiration was tapped, and the riff evolved into the band’s first composition, “Suspended Solution”. Leo laid down very unique bass clarinet parts which went through many effect permutations, and a new sound and direction were found officially forming Durov’s Corner. The project has been evolving ever since — at times simply being pensive duets between Tim’s bass lines and Leo’s reed instruments and at other times, full-out movie soundtrack productions with ever-changing elements, motifs, soundscapes, themes and orchestration.
The band’s first EP, “Plugged Inwards”, was released in 2022 and is available across all major digital platforms.
Continuing to manifest their passions, Durov’s Corner is currently working on their next full-length album.
